Knowledge
is power. Resources to start your path...
Headshots,
Auditions, Breakdowns, Demo reels, Classes,
Techniques, Directors, Locations, Investment,
History, Jobs, Classifieds and everything else you
can imagine that will help you on the right
path! Remember this is a business.
A good starter
resource is Mandy.com if you don't already know
about it. It's got free crew/cast/jobs/classifieds!
Expect to work for free, but also expect to increase
your resumé credits this way! FREE!
Another excellent resource
for actors, crew, directors, producers, writers,
agents, managers, etc. It's highly recommended that
you subscribe to the professional version of this
website, Here.
Actors can take control of
their own breakdowns, casting calls and auditions
with a free actor profile here, but they will charge
per submission which is great for cherry picking
your roles if you are not located in Los Angeles or
New York. A Showfax
subscription gives you free submissions on actors
access. This resource is also great for directors,
casting directors, and aspiring talent to place
calls for work. I highly recommend this
service.
This is primarily a
writing source! Tons of great scripts have been sold
through InkTip. It's an indy resource for
writers. Well worth it!
SAG is the holy grail of
the acting world. We want you actors to be
successful! We want to arm you with the necessary information
to join! use our links to gather information, go to
auditions, book projects, extend your resumé and
then submit yourself into the union!
An annually updated
directory of every professional distribution
company, producer, agent, manager, music producer,
classifieds, union, equipment rentals, etc. It has a
lot of useful information. Costly subscription.
If you are unfamiliar with
film sets and still require experience, I recommend
doing background work to familiarize yourself with
the work ethic and practices of sets. Central
Casting is a great place to start.
This is Crucial if you are
located in the L.A. / Hollywood area. A subscription
to this is a must with or without an agent.
The Highly coveted and
sought after membership for the DGA (Directors Guild
of America). Studiopath wants you to achieve your
goals. Read the information on this site, and find
out ways you can join.
Let's not forget about the
Writers Guild! Writers must have a signatory
produced series/movie/pilot sponsored by major
distributors or a studio in order to join this
union. Please read the requirements to move forward
with your writing career.
This site is primarily for
actors looking for auditions in their area.
You can purchase a small subscription to this, but I
recommend doing it only after you get a subscription
to ActorsAccess, ShowFax, Nowcasting, Lacasting,
Imdb.pro and HCD.
This is a personal
favorite of mine. TONS of breakdowns to increase
your resumé. I highly recommend this affordable
alternative.
Directors, looking for
that next big script? Writers, looking for feedback?
Here's the place to scout the newest up and coming
writers! Remember the story is the key!
Great place for musicians,
actors, models, writers, directors, casting
directors and more! Requires subscription.
A great place to network
and ask questions to other industry professionals.
It's like studiopath, but funded.
Backstage has a great set
of resources for actors. Subscription
required. It's also a really good resource for
FINDING new actors. Directors, Casting,
resources.
Casting Society is a must
join for up and coming casting directors. Please
visit their website for more information on how to
become a member.
Film specific is a great
resource for directors, producers, distributors and
film finance people. There is a subscription fee,
but the knowledge imparted is well worth it. Think
of it as class.
